We export three MG electric nameplates. They share a platform and a lot of switchgear, which makes them easy to confuse on a spec sheet and very easy to order wrongly. The difference that matters is not the badge — it is how far each one goes between charges and what that costs you per unit.
MG4 EV Urban — the volume car
A 42.8 kWh or 53.9 kWh front-wheel-drive hatchback quoting up to 258 miles WLTP, with a heat pump fitted as standard and a 577-litre boot that includes 98 litres under the floor. It charges 10–80% in 28 minutes on a 150 kW charger. Seven airbags and a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
This is the fleet and ride-hailing car. The heat pump matters more than the badge does: it is what stops cold-weather range collapsing, and it is standard across the trim walk rather than an option.
2026 MG4 EV — the driver's one
Rear-wheel drive, 50:50 weight distribution, 64 kWh or 77 kWh NCM, up to 338 miles WLTP and 10–80% in 25 minutes. The Premium Extended Range does 0–62 mph in 6.2 seconds; the dual-motor XPOWER makes 435 PS and does it in 3.8. Boot is 388 litres, or 1,164 with the rear seats down.
The 2026 revision brought the interior up to the standard of the MGS5 and MGS6 — better materials, a 12.8-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch driver display, and physical climate buttons that survive a dusty road better than a touch slider does.
MGS5 EV — the one buyers ask for
The SUV body, and in most of our markets that decides it before any spec does. 49 kWh or 64 kWh, rear-wheel drive at 125 kW or 170 kW, up to 298 miles WLTP, and a 400-volt system that takes up to 139 kW DC. Boot volume reaches 1,441 litres with the adjustable floor lowered. Seven airbags including a central one, and a five-link rear axle.
Choosing between them
- Urban routes, high daily utilisation, tight unit price — MG4 EV Urban.
- Longer inter-city runs where charging stops cost you money — 2026 MG4 EV.
- Rough surfaces, ride height, resale demand for an SUV — MGS5 EV.
- Mixed fleets load well together; ask us to optimise the container plan.
Send us your destination port and the duty cycle you expect, and we will come back with a landed cost per model rather than a factory price you then have to build on.
